Students in the pre-nursing and certified clinical medical assistant programs at the Carroll County Area Technology Center trained to become CPR certified on adults and infants recently. They also learned how to administer the Heimlich maneuver and use an AED (automated external defibrillator) on adults and infants. CCHS Project-Based Learning students Lillian Ball, Blake Harney, Laeton Fornash, Hunter Angell and Timmy Kidd have built an eight-foot wooden walkway/driving surface between the pond and the baseball field’s right field fence. This project, dubbed The Boardwalk, will allow extra room for mowers, golf carts and people to utilize that section of ground. It could also become part of the cross country course that has been created on the opposite end of the pond. The platform is a cantilever style with a handrail and ramps on each end. The goal for all PBL/WBL students is to attain 300 hours of successful employment and be considered career ready at graduation. Those students who are career ready receive a notation on their diploma and a cord to wear at graduation.

Hello Carroll County Families!! Summer is here and the children will be out of school looking for fun and exciting things to do with their time. We want to make sure that our students continue to receive balanced meals, so our Nutrition Department is offering 10-day meal boxes again this year. You can still sign up for the FREE food boxes!

The summer feeding program provides each child in Carroll County ages 18 and under with 10 breakfasts and 10 lunches as well as milk for each meal. All items are shelf stable, so they won't take up space in your refrigerator or freezer. Just click the link below and fill it out to get your children on the pick-up listing. There is space for four children, so if you have more, you will need to fill out the form another time to list the other children. Once you fill it out, you remain on the list for the entire summer feeding program. You do not need to complete a form for every pick-up event. Click here to register: https://forms.gle/F94DYi9o7NBkMPAUA

Meal box pick-up dates are: June 10, June 19, July 1, July 10, July 20, and July 31. Please go to the school site you selected on the registration form. Food services staff will distribute meals from 12-2 p.m. at Carroll County High School and 4-6 p.m. at Carroll County Middle School. Please note, meal boxes should be collected by the parent or guardian of the child(ren).

The Carroll County Area Technology Center held field day for students from its five counties last week. Students and staff had a fun day of volleyball, kickball, frisbee games, cornhole and grilling on the iconic ATC charcoal grill. A few even got lucky enough to plant a whipped cream pie in the faces of Mr. Brooks, Mr. Rose and Mr. Kennedy. (More photos on the District Facebook page.)

Success worth celebrating! All 14 pre-nursing students at the Carroll County Area Technology Center passed their CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) exam last week at JCTC's Carrollton campus. This photo shows the group after completing their nursing clinicals at Gallatin Health Care.
“I am so proud of them. They have all worked so hard to achieve this goal,” said Nursing Instructor Jessica Hughes.
This certification is the first step toward nursing school, and these students are already making it count. Congratulations to these future nurses! 👏🩺

Pre-Nursing students at the Carroll County Area Technology Center got a hands-on look at what it’s like to respond in a real emergency 🚑💉
Thanks to our local partners from Carroll County Memorial Hospital and Carroll County Emergency Medical Services, students worked through a simulated scenario inside an ambulance while transporting a patient to a Louisville hospital for the ICU and cath lab.
Things quickly became intense when the “patient” stopped breathing and students had to jump into action, using their skills and training to respond 💪🫁
