Students & Families,

Each county follows its home high school calendar, which means there are some days when our building is open and serving students from counties that are still in session.

Friday, September 4, is the first calendar variation.

Our building will be open and available to all students on Friday. Carroll County students are not required to attend on Friday. Your absence will not count against your attendance.

Students are welcome to come in for additional help.

We hope this helps everyone understand the differences in our county calendars. Please email mackenzie.wright@carroll.kyschools.us with questions.

Carroll County Middle School was named in an unfortunately popular internet trend involving the "Cat in the Hat." CCMS staff and the Carrollton Police Department immediately began investigating. No threats were made, but we are alerting families to the issue. An increased police presence will be visible in our schools.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter.

Carroll County Area Technology Center Secretary Ms. Dawson couldn't resist taking the first spin on the ATC's brand new forklift, and we think she looks like a natural! ATC Welding teacher Justin Tingle gave her a crash course on operating the machinery.

The forklift is one of the newest additions purchased through the ATC's $5 million School Facilities Construction Commission grant, which is funding the construction of a second welding classroom. It's another exciting investment in our students.

Don't worry, she'll be back at the front office greeting students every day.

Pre-Nursing students at the Carroll County Area Technology Center put their skills to work by investigating the cleanliness of common areas around the school. Using sterile swabs, they tested everything from bathroom surfaces and door handles to hard hats and computer keyboards to see what they could find.

This hands-on activity gave students a real-world look at microbiology while reinforcing the importance of proper cleaning, hand hygiene and infection prevention.

The Carroll County Board of Education voted to name Dr. Ron Livingood as Interim Superintendent of Carroll County Schools at a special meeting this evening. He will serve in the position while the board begins a search to replace former Superintendent Casey Jaynes, who resigned recently with the intent to retire effective June 30.
Livingood has worked with Carroll County Schools on multiple occasions from 2017 through 2019, including as interim superintendent and interim principal of CCHS and the Carroll County ATC.
“I adopted a whole new family down here,” Livingood said. "I think I’ve always gotten a bigger blessing being in Carroll County than any good I may have done.” Livingood, who retired as Grant County Schools superintendent in 2016, said he isn’t typically looking for a job, but “if the Lord sends an assignment my way I always try and do my best to help in a situation that a little bit of help might be needed.”
He will meet with the board at its June 25 meeting. Livingood said he wants to hear the board’s priorities and determine what they need from him. “I need to sit down and listen to the board and determine what needs they perceive. They’re the community so I’ll get a feel from them on what are some important things to do,” he added.
“I think the people in Carroll County are really good. I owe them my best effort until things get rolling and they’re able to get everybody in place for that district to run smoothly and the kids to get the greatest benefit,” Livingood said.
